Alison Sudol is best known to indie music fans as singer-songwriter A Fine Frenzy, but in addition to being a renowned musician, she’s also an accomplished actress.
In fact, the 29-year-old performer has just joined the cast of the USA Network’s six-episode thriller, “Dig.” The series comes from acclaimed creators Gideon Raff (“Homeland”) and Tim Kring (“Heroes”).
Sudol will star alongside actors Anne Heche and Jason Isaacs. She plays Emma Wilson, an American intern working on a dig site in Jerusalem, where she befriends FBI detective Peter Connelly (Isaacs). Connelly finds himself embroiled in a race to track down a religious artifact that could trigger an event that would change the course of history, and in the process he ends up a suspect in a sensational murder.
Although most people know Sudol for her intimate, atmospheric indie pop, this is far from Sudol’s first foray into acting. Her recent credits include a recurring role on Amazon Studios television series “Transparent” and a part in the forthcoming feature film “Other People’s Children.” She’s also working on a new music project, due out in early 2015.
“Dig” is slated to premiere on the USA Network in late 2014.
